No need to say, I am proud to wear my silver natural hair.
If I had to choose one main reason why, maybe it could be because I don't have to "cover" my real me and the signs of my age.
But another very important fact that makes me happy, is that, by not colouring my hair, I make my tiny contribution to avoid throwing chemicals into the environment.
The start to accepting yourself is knowing yourself.
If truth, honesty and self-acceptance are written across your face, you are beautiful.
So the best investment for beauty is working on deeply knowing yourself. ⠀
There is no age or stage of life to try something new.
Did you know that many awarded professionals change their career in a late stage of life?
I just read that they had different (and sometimes not successful) jobs before they started doing what they love? ⠀
Oprah was fired from her first reporting job when she was 23.
Stephen King was working as a janitor and living in a trailer at 24.
Vincent Van Gogh failed as a missionary and decided to go to art school at 27.
J.K. Rowling was a single parent living on welfare when she was 28.
Harrison Ford was a carpenter and Martha Stewart was a stockbroker until their 30’s.
Vera Wang failed to make the Olympic Figure Skating Team, didn’t get the Editor-in-Chief position at Vogue. Then, at her 40’s, she designed her first dress. Alan Rickman gave up his graphic design career to pursue acting at 42.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is never too late to make a change and try what you love!
I can speak for myself; I gave up Market Research to start modelling and acting when I was almost 50!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thanks to modelling, I have the chance to work with people of all nationalities, ages, genders, shapes, styles, professions, sexual orientations, beliefs, cultures, etc. ⠀
I thank for this every day. Sharing work, lunches, chats and time with each and all of them makes me realise how much we have improved as persons.⠀
When I look back into my teen times, I remember that aspiration was limited to young, thin, straight-hair, and all those stereotypes.
Now I am happy to see we are starting to change this, and to celebrate the beauty of being oneself //
